Watch Hit Somebody - Sean William Scott Update

We've all known for some time now that Kevin Smith has wanted Sean William Scott for the role of Buddy in Hit Somebody. He's even writing the part with the actor, his talents and humor in mind. However, there are now rumors that Scott may bolt for another hockey movie that is closer to production.

Jay Baruchel's Goon has the script finished and IMDB says that it could start production as early as this month.

K.Smith has talked about the possibility of Scott going to Goon on Twitter (where else) and seems genuinely about the fact that he may not have his first pick in the movie.

However, it doesn't look like he has any ill will towards Baruchel's project saying, "Besides: the more hockey flicks, the better. #SellTheGame"

So, for now I guess we keep our ears to the ground waiting for news on Goon to find out if Sean William Scott gets signed up while K.Smith and his crew start rolling on Red State.

Hit Somebody! - UPDATE!!!

Kevin Smith is on a little tour getting ready for the DVD release of Cop Out (watch it streaming free here) and he was asked about his upcoming projects including Red State and Hit Somebody.

When he was talking about Hit Somebody he admitted that he is still in the scripting phase and is at about page 70 right now.

He also said the movie will take place primarily in the 70's once the main character is in the fake pro hockey league.

We hope that sometime between now and then he takes a look at our casting suggestions for some of his supporting characters.

Stay tuned for more info as it comes my friends. I'm going to be all over this one.

Hit Somebody - Story Update!

Folks, Kevin Smith loves Twitter, and his fans, and telling people about his projects. And because of that there is a chance that by tomorrow morning we will be able to find out about the start of Hit Somebody.

K.Smith is on his cross country live SModcast tour with producer Scott Mosier and tonight they are in Madison, Wisconsin. And Mr. Smith has made an offer to the fans that makes me wish I was within driving difference of the Majestic Theatre.

"If http://tinyurl.com/Madison10pm show sells out? I'll read you the first 10 pages of HIT SOMEBODY. Same for http://tinyurl.com/Madison7pm" via @ThatKevinSmith

So, my fingers are crossed that folks start buying up those tickets. I'd really like to know how this hockey epic is going to start.

Come back tomorrow to see what kind of information was handed out.

Hit Somebody - Casting Update!

Hey kids, K.Smith was at in again on his Twitter account this week. And when he was asked about actor Jim Norton he had this to say "I want him to play a Glenn Hall-like goalie in HIT SOMEBODY"

So there you have it. The next casting pick for Hit Somebody. If K.Smith gets his way of course.

I've been thinking about other actors that I would love to see in the movie. Even if it was just in a small role. So I'm going to throw a quick list up and see what you guys think.

Ready?

-Jeff "Boomer" Phillips: Dude has already said that he wants to be in the movie, and K.Smith told him that he could be. So I say sign him up.

-Mike Vitar: Vitar played Luis Mendoza in Mighty Ducks 2 and 3. And if Hit Somebody is going to take place in a fake WHA kind of league there should totally be hockey players that you wouldn't expect to see. Also, how cool would it be to have a kid from The Might Ducks in the movie?

-Chris Jericho: That's right, the wrestling star. He's a good Canadian boy who knows how to skate and has played in charity hockey games in the past. Plus you know he could rock a great mullet.

-Sean McCann: McCann is a member of Newfoundland music legends Great Big Sea. And if there's going to be a full hockey league there has to be a Newfie in the cast.

-Ryan Reynolds: I love this guy, know he can play hockey as he did in Van Wilder, and he's a good looking guy. Maybe he expects a little more than what View Askew is paying, but maybe he'd take scale to walk on for a day.

-Vince Vaughn: I have no idea if Vaughn can even skate. But he's made himself out to be a huge Chicago Blackhawks fan these days, so he might as well strap on the skates and give it a go!

There ya go kids. 6 people that I think should get the call to be in Hit Somebody.

Who do you think should get on the ice?

Hit Somebody!

Ok! We all know that I’m a big Kevin Smith fan. That’s no secret. And neither is this… K.Smith is making a hockey movie.

Titled Hit Somebody, the movie takes place in Canada in the 70’s and 80’s, following a player that was told he would never make it because he didn’t have the skill.

But, what he does have is heart and fists. Dude is an enforcer, a player that we all can’t help but love from time to time.

Seann William Scott (Planet 51) has been tapped to star in the flick after K.Smith fell in love with him while making Cop Out.

Also rumored to be in the cast is former Green and Black Power Ranger, Johnny Yong Bosch.

K.Smith has admitted that the movie will not take place in the NHL, but in a fake WHA kind of league.

He has also said that he will find a way to get the most famous hockey dad in the world, Walter Gretzky, into the movie at some point.

The movie and story are being written based on the song Hit Somebody by Warren Zevon.

Hit Somebody is currently being written according to K.Smith’s very active Twitter feed, and he says that the plan is to start pre-production as soon as he is finished post-production on Red State.

As a K.Smith fan and a hockey fan I am jacked for this movie to happen. Check back for more posts, rumors and info as I can get it.

Hit Somebody is tentatively scheduled for a 2012 release.
